We are recruiting Play Workers for our holiday play schemes – DASH

Play Workers enable disabled and non-disabled children to access inclusive play opportunities in a fun and safe environment, whilst supporting individual requirements.

You must be over 18 years old and be available to work during the school holidays

Experienced and/or qualified or working towards a qualification in childcare / play work preferred

Based at premises in Darlington and outreach work to take children on outings.

Hours of work:            9.00am to 4.30pm (2 or 3 days per week) during school holidays

Rate of Pay:                £8.91 per hour plus £1.07 holiday allowance per hour

Description: A Female Support worker is required in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010 for a lady living in the Redcar area. The personal assistant will be required to assist the lady with personal care and general household duties. 

She is looking for support to help her with her daily needs. The lady herself is well educated and has a zest for life. The ideal person will be willing to support the lady to achieve her life goals.

Typical care duties are wide ranging. The job revolves around helping the lady with her immediate needs.

Duties: include assisting to maintain her personal hygiene, including assistance with washing and dressing, as well as helping with basic day-to-day tasks within the home, alongside administrative tasks such as paying bills. However, the care role also includes getting to know the lady personally and providing emotional support and company, which will contribute positively to her wellbeing. The personal assistant for this lady will also extend to helping her to take part in leisure activities therefore, duties vary substantially so that no two days are the same.

Essential Criteria: A full driving licence. 

Hours: Up to 43.5 hours available per week which can be job shared. It is anticipated these hours will be worked over three to four days per week – times and days can be discussed at interview but it is anticipated full days will be required plus 'bedtime' calls. May particularly suit applicants local to Redcar.

Independent Advocate

DAD (Centre for Independent Living) is seeking to recruit an Independent Advocate who is passionate about advocacy and upholding and safeguarding the rights of people we support. 

All candidates must be committed to the values of equality, empowerment and supporting people to have their voice heard when decisions are being made about their lives.  If you think you have the right experience, values, drive and enthusiasm needed for this role, and in turn DAD will provide a team environment, with excellent support and conditions.

Experience and qualifications in advocacy is preferred, but a training post will also be considered for the right candidate.

Salary: £ 9.80 - 12.34 per hour depending on Qualifications and Experience

Please note: The  Higher pay scales will be awarded to successful applicants who are in possession of a Diploma in advocacy.*

Hours: 30 to 37.5 hours per week

Location: Based at the offices of Darlington Association on Disability (travel is expected across the Borough of Darlington, Tees Valley and regular travel to other areas in the North East.) Home working is also  expected during COVID restrictions and will be considered as part of your role outside of restrictions.

Holidays: 25 days per annum (pro rata if less than 37.5) Bank Holidays, entitlement increases with length of service up to a maximum of 30 days plus bank holidays.

Travel: A travel allowance is payable for travel in connection with the post

* All advocates will be expected to complete National Advocacy Qualifications which will be funded by DAD and completed within agreed timescales, some home study is expected. Where an advocate is not in possession of the Diploma in advocacy the lower rate will apply.

The person has congenital Muscular Dystrophy and epilepsy. Her mobility is limited so she uses a powered wheelchair.

Hours: 24 hours per week

Essential Criteria: Non-smoker, able to support the young man with his interests (as described and X box), must be honest and able to use own initiative. 

Desirable Criteria:  Experience of working with people with a learning disability. Share similar interests as the young man. As the service user has a mobility car, full driving license is preferred but not essential.
