Project Lead Worker within the Direct Payments Support Service

This post may be suitable for people with a HR or payroll background but would like the opportunity and challenge to make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people and carers.

Grade/Salary: £9.23 per hour

Responsible to: The Service Co-ordinator, Manager and the Executive Committee of Darlington Association on Disability

Area of Work: Based at Enterprise House, Valley Street, Darlington, working across Tees Valley

Hours: 18.75 hours per week

Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays (pro rata)

Benefits: Pension, Sickness scheme, mileage allowance/travel costs are reimbursed for mileage in the course of work (not to and from work).

Objective of the Post:To work alongside disabled people, carers and parents of disabled children who use direct payments to meet support needs. To provide as much or as little support as necessary, enabling the person to use and manage their direct payments, to have greater choice and control over their lives.

Main Duties include work with people who use direct payments to identify current and ongoing support they will need to manage their direct payment and in discussion with direct payment users, provide the level of support required to enable the service user to set up their direct payment, employ staff of their choice and / or secure support from an organisation.

The successful applicant should have experience working within a team setting, with/supporting disabled people to achieve personal goals and experience of interagency working. They should also have knowledge of the Social Model of Disability, good knowledge of direct payments and issues relating to them and the personalisation agenda with social care.

Personal Assistant ie Play and Leisure Assistant (Supervising disabled children and young people)

Salary: £7.83 - £8.70 per hour

Responsible to: Senior Project Co-ordinator, Children and Young People’s Service DAD

Area of work: Borough of Darlington and surrounding area

Place of work: Outreach service based from Darlington Association on Disability offices and Darlington Association on Disability’s Independent Living Hub

Hours: 9 hours per week including evenings and weekends including Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with the possibility of an additional 3 hours per week

Contract until March 2020

Mileage: Mileage allowance payable

NB. The post is subject to satisfactory completion of 12 week probationary period

Purpose of the post: To deliver the personal assistance service to disabled young people participating in the Tees Valley YMCA’s “Open Access Youth Services”. The post holder will provide a bridging service supporting disabled young people to access the new generic youth services, specific groups and activities, in addition to ensuring access to high quality flexible support that meets individual need.

The successful applicant should have a relevant child care or youth work qualification or working towards qualification and a Valid First Aid certificate or a willingness to train as a first aider. They should also have recent experience of working with children or young people and an understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection or willingness to undertake training. The successful applicant should act as a positive role model for children and young people and the ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends and school holidays.
