DASH Playschemes Recruitment

We are looking to recruit a number of staff for the following positions:

Play Enabler

To ensure children have the opportunity to play in a fun, stimulating and safe environment and provide for their social and personal needs.

Area of work: Play scheme for disabled and non-disabled children. Based at premises in Darlington, and outreach work to take children on outings.

Hours of work: 9.00am to 4.30pm (2 or 3 days per week) during school holidays

Rate of Pay: £7.38 to £7.83 per hour depending on age

Responsible to: Directly responsible to the Play Facilitator and Senior Play Facilitator.

The post will involve assisting in the organisation of activities for a group of children as laid down on the activity plan and effectively communicating with parents and carers at the beginning and end of the day; working with Play Facilitator and scheme co-ordinator to actively work with any child who exhibits challenging behaviour and join in with activities to help encourage children to participate.

The successful candidate should have relevant experience and/or qualifications in working with children and/or young people, be able to work flexibly and have an awareness of Child Protection Issues.

Play Facilitator

Responsible to: Project Co-ordinator and Senior Play Facilitator.

The post will involve co-ordinating the activities for a group of disabled and non-disabled children as laid down on the activity plans; matching volunteers with children on a ratio basis and effectively communicating with parents and carers at the beginning and end of the day.  Also the Play Facilitator will work with Play Enablers and Senior Play Facilitators to actively work with any child who exhibits challenging behaviour.

The successful candidate should have relevant experience in working with children and young people (minimum of two years); the ability to work flexibly; the ability to work on your own initiative and without supervision and the ability to organise groups of people.  We would also expect the candidate to have the ability to maintain confidentiality issues and have an awareness of Child Protection Issues.

Previous experience is not needed. Training is provided. You must be aged 16 or over.
