Direct Payments Support Service Employer Bulletin

June 2015

The purpose of the monthly bulletin is to provide you with general information around your employer responsibilities but will change from time to time as and when legislation does so it is important that you read it each month. We are here to help, so if you have any queries please contact us.

August Bank Holiday Payroll

This year we have a payroll week that falls on the August bank holiday which is 31 August 2015 which will mean that we may not be able to get your payroll to you by the Friday. However, we will do our very best and the earlier you call your

Auto Enrolment

We have been advising employers to expect a letter from The Pensions Regulator for some time and to forward the letter to us if you would like our support. We will be writing to each employer shortly detailing how we can support you. If you have received a letter from The Pensions Regulator, it is important that you take action as soon as you receive the letter and do not ignore it.
If you would like our support then please forward the letter on to us as soon as possible. If you are unsure about whether you have sent your letter to us then please give us a call and we will check for you.

HMRC Payments

If we support you to pay HMRC, it is your responsibility to make sure that you get your HMRC payments to us in good time to ensure we have enough time to get it to HMRC by the due date. If penalties are issued you may be personally liable. If you are worried about getting your payments to us in good time, please contact us so that we can support you.


It is no longer possible for employers to recover any of the statutory sick pay that they pay their employees. If you need further advice on this please contact us.

Standard Hours

If your payroll hours are the same every month and only change to account for holiday hours and sickness then our Standard Hours service may help you. We will automatically process the same hours for your PA’s every payroll period so you will only need to ring in if the hours need to change. For more information please contact us.
If you already use our Standard Hours service, please remember to let us know if there are any changes to your payroll such as holiday pay and sickness.

It is important that you ring in with the hours on the above dates (or earlier) before 11am or you can leave a message on the Direct Payments answer machine on 01325 360524 together with your name and telephone number or fax us on 01325 267758. We will call you back to confirm the hours have been received and to check them. You can also email your hours to us: directpayments@darlingtondisability.org.
